Embark on a one-way journey to a distant planet, where your mission is to establish and thrive in a small colony. Returning to Earth is not an option.
The rich resources in the region offer a promising start, and with your colonists, you’ve already begun to explore and mine.
As in any space mission, danger is everywhere, and you must thrive to survive.

You can utilize various resources to establish and grow your colony. By mining ores from rocks on the planet's surface or extracting them from deeper within the planet using a deep mining machine, you can craft construction items, machinery, and components essential for building and maintaining your colony. Additionally, you can find water in the form of ice that can be melted to provide water for your colonists and plants. These resources are crucial for sustaining life, generating energy, and supporting the growth of your colony on the Moon or Mars.

Construct a small outpost to kickstart your operations, and process vital resources while exploring the terrain. Uncover remnants of previous missions for potential advancements as you expand your base.

You must start by building a basic shelter upon landing on the Moon or Mars. This shelter serves as a safe haven for you and your team of colonists. As the base expands, you may uncover remnants of previous missions, offering potential advancements. These remnants could provide valuable resources, technologies, or insights that can further enhance the base's capabilities and sustainability.

Your colonists can't rely forever on their oxygen canisters. Pressurize your base and maintain a breathable atmosphere to sustain life. Work without the burden of a spacesuit, but beware of the rising temperatures and CO2 levels, which pose latent threats.

Establishing a greenhouse, planting crops, and harvesting food are necessary to keep the colonists fed and generate oxygen crucial for survival.
Creating a pressurized environment within the base is vital for colonists to live and work comfortably. Devices like the Life Support System require oxygen-filled canisters to operate effectively and maintain the base pressure. Managing oxygen levels and removing toxic gases is essential. You will need to utilize elements like pipes, vents, filters, and pumps to create a breathable environment for your colonists.

Achieve the right balance of base temperature, pressure, and oxygen levels. Expand your systems, build more complex facilities, and scale up your operations to establish commerce with Earth.

Mars and the Moon present unique challenges and differences for players. Mars has a thin atmosphere of carbon dioxide, allowing players to utilize it through a greenhouse, while the Moon's proximity to Earth facilitates easier commerce. The Moon has a long day-night cycle of 28 Earth days, requiring players to plan energy sources carefully.

Have we mentioned that danger is everywhere? Stay alert for warning signs before it’s too late. The game's adaptive difficulty ensures a challenging experience, with an AI introducing both positive and negative events to test your decisions.

You will face dangers and many events that add challenges to the gameplay. Maintenance is crucial, as devices with low reliability can explode, potentially damaging parts of the base. For instance, an exploding device like a transformer or air pump can create holes in walls or roofs, leading to the loss of oxygen. The game aims to create a meaningful experience where you must consider the interdependence of various systems within your base.

As the base grows in complexity, it becomes more hazardous for the colony. The game seeks to provide a challenging yet rewarding survival and development experience without being overly punitive.

The game is in active development, with more features and objects on the horizon. Experiment in a sandbox-like environment as you create better systems for your colony and maximize the use of available resources.

Too Far Too Late provides a sandbox experience by offering the freedom to interact with various interconnected systems that you build yourself, engaging in activities such as building bases, mining resources, crafting items, growing plants, managing atmospheres, and exploring different planets. The game's advanced atmospheric and fluid simulation adds a layer of realism, requiring players to carefully manage their base's atmosphere for the colonists' survival. Additionally, the game allows players to expand their colony across the solar system, offering freedom about how you choose to develop your colony and tackle challenges in your unique way.
