The Dungeon-Dungeon Awaits
For years, adventurers have gone into the Dungeon-Dungeon, yet none have returned. Everyone thought they would be the first to return, and they all were proved wrong. You feel the same, and dream to beat the trend. There's a spark of hope in you - after all, someone has to be the first. Why not you? The Dungeon-Dungeon Awaits...
Dungeon-Dungeon is designed to be accessible for different playstyles, and has numerous character options, difficulty options, and palette options.
In the Dungeon-Dungeon, every adventure takes place on a grid. Unlike other grid-based roguelikes, not every creature has the same attack shape. Every creature poses a unique threat!
Shapes Matter
A Gorbo uses a simple plus shape, making it a fairly standard enemy to fight.
A Crab uses a simple X shape, which can be exploited for easy attacks.
A Troll uses a large square shape, meaning no matter where you are, it poses a threat - it can hit you!
Just as the creatures have unique shapes, so do you! As an adventurer, you’ll encounter a variety of weapons with different shapes. A shortsword might suffice for the start, but the shuriken’s unique diamond shape could prove useful in a tight situation!
Succeeding in the Dungeon-Dungeon requires mastery of these shapes and manipulation of their strengths and weaknesses to your advantage. The better you use your own attack shapes and understand the enemies’ shapes, the more lethal you become.
As you explore the Dungeon-Dungeon, you’ll discover over 130 items to grow your strength. Items fall into three categories:
Consumables. These items provide an instant benefit of some kind. Some provide permanent stat buffs, while others provide temporary bonuses.
Equipment. When in your inventory, these items give you passive benefits. They come in a wide variety of types, so mixing and matching to find an optimal build can really make a difference.
Weapons. If you’re going to kill anything, you’ll need a weapon! Weapons each have unique strengths and weaknesses, leading to interesting gameplay choices. Do you take a weapon with more damage, but a worse attack shape? Or do you take one with a better attack shape at the cost of damage? What about just taking both?
Regardless of what items you have, you’ll have to decide which ones to keep and which ones to throw away. You only have so much space to hold items - will you prioritize equipment? Or a vast arsenal of weapons? The choice is yours. You’ll find different items every run, quickly finding that you naturally discover new strategies each time.
Every time you do something in the Dungeon-Dungeon, the creatures within follow. Making an attack, using an item, or moving too far will end your turn. With your items, knowledge, and a little bit of thinking, you can beat monsters with ease. For example, if you play your cards right, then you can move into the perfect position where you can attack the opponent, but they can’t hit you. As you master the game, combat will become easier, and even the toughest bosses will fall easily at your hands. When you've mastered the normal game, you can up the difficulty to see how far you can push yourself.
Dungeon-Dungeon plays at your own pace; take as much or as little time as you want in between turns.
With 100 floors, 10 layers, 10 bosses, 70+ mobs, 130+ items, and many achievements, Dungeon-Dungeon has a natural allure that’s drawn in countless adventurers. Will you be the next?
