Side ‘N’ Spell English Words and Phonics Game - Lite

A slide and spell English Spelling and phonics game designed for students of all abilities ( there is even a little something for teachers!) Slide the letters to spell the 3, 4 or 7 letter words to complete the puzzle and move onto the next section.

There are three sections, Phonics, Subjects and Scary Seven and the details are below.

    Phonics:

This covers CVC using short vowels sounds AEIOU, in simple three letter words for beginners using English, and to help students start putting single sounds together.
Blends and diagraphs including SH, CH, BR, BL, Cr, CL etc. helping students to learn how to put together these often tricky English words.

Vowel Diagraphs to show the relationship when students discover to vowels next to each other in words and the relationship they ( sometimes ;)) have.

Grammar: examples of verbs, adjectives and nouns to give learners an introduction to more vocabulary and what grammar class they fall into.

    Subjects:

A wide range of vocabulary covering the more common English subjects that appear in the more popular text books. I have attempted to use some of the phonic rules in the answers that were covered in the phonic games section to add a natural progression through each level.

The English Subjects are as follows:
    Animals
    Food
    Weather
    Jobs
    Countries
    Miscellaneous

There are over 30 questions in each section.

    Scary Seven.

These are the most difficult words, each one is 7 letters long and there is only a one word clue to help! If you progressed through the phonics and English Subjects sections you may have seen some before just to give a little help.

As Education moves on Students and schools are looking for more interactivity in lessons and these phonics games help to acheive that. Although simple they are targetted for specific lessons, and can be played for a short time. They are aimed to enable teachers to just give the game and let students play the phonic game they need, rather than have to teach the students how to use the app.

There is also an ad free version of these phonics games with a little additional content in the quizzes and games, just in case school prefer to have phonics games with no ads.

It will also be availible on the website soon

www.makingenglishfun.com if you would like to play in classrooms or on PC.

I am a teacher of English and use phonic games when needed in my lessons, i wanted simple ones to save time and when i couldnt fine them i decided to try to make my own, i hope these are useful for your teaching of phonics as well.
