You're not out to save the world, you've just got bills to pay.

What were once remote but routine deep-space shipping lanes have become dangerous territory infested with swarms of aggressive, parasitic creatures. To counteract this menace, the Cosien Corporation has placed public bounties on these creatures, paying a price-per-head for confirmed kills depending on the species and conditions of the shipping lane in which they're found.

Some say the creatures were drawn to Cosien space by the fuel that runs our ships and that they feed on the exhaust in our wake. Others say we're encroaching on their territory as we expand ever outwards into unexplored regions of space. Still others say these creatures are but a portend of a much greater - and much larger - threat, the legendary deep-space whales. They claim these creatures are like the schools of fish and other tiny animals that survive in the debris surrounding large creatures in old-Earth's oceans.

Most people say those claims are nuts, and the corporate Cosien line is that they're just a rumour - but some of the bounty hunters insist they're real, that there's something out there. Something big, and getting closer. Something that could destroy everything in Cosien space. Something that you can only believe when you see space move...

But you don't really care about any of that.

Bounty fighters don't come cheap, and interest rates are at an all-time high. All the Cosien Corporation really cares about is one thing: credits. They're offering a bounty for confirmed creature kills, you've got a big lease on a ship, and you've got the skills to fly.
