Phom - Ta la
Phom or so called Ta La or 9 leaf is a card game very popular in Vietnam. But there are some special rules are very attractive players.
# How to play Phom, Ta la:
- Use a deck of 52 cards.
- At the first match you have 10 cards and the others have 9 cards. The rest of the deck set in the center of the table is called the Venom.
- The first person to go (who has 10 troops) hits a card in his hand. The next person can take that card if it can match the cards on hand to be a PHOM .
Or if the next person can not take or do not want to take the card, he must pick up a card from the Venom deck in the middle of the table.
After that, he hits a card in his hand. The third person can take (if possible) or pick up one of the cards in the Venom deck in the middle of the table if not taken and then throw a card for the fourth person, and so on until the game is over.
- The game ends when anyone get an Ù.
- If no one get an Ù, the game will end after 4 rounds. Before playing the garbage card in round 4, the player needs to present all his PHOM to everyone.
## Term:
- Garbage: The odd cards do not belong to any set.
- Venom: The remaining cards are dealt after the player is placed in the middle of the table.
- Burned: If the player can not present any PHOM at the end of the game, they will be Burned.
- Ù: All cards on player's hand can be arranged into a PHOM and no remaining cards, or the equivalent of having 0 cards left behind.
- Take the last: Take the last card of previous player in the last turn.
- Tái: After a card is showed, if someone take a card, the dealt cards will be moved and you are allowed to play one more time.
- Post: In the last turn, if your junk card can be enrolled in the other player's PHỎM, you can send that junk card. Post cards will not be awarded at the end of the game.
### PHOM:
- A set consisting of 3 or more cards of the same suit or a set of 3 or more cards of the same number.
- Set of 3 consecutive same number cards are "Horizontal PHỎM": three J, four T, three K and so on.
- Set of 3 consecutive same suit cards called "Vertical PHỎM": J♦-Q♦-K♦, A♠-2♠-3♠, 7♥-8♥-9♥-10♥-J♥ etc. ...
