Our Dying World
Our Dying World is a love letter to old-school RPG’s created using the RPG Maker software. Join Max and Ryker as they leave their village to become powerful adventurers, only to get wrapped up in a story much bigger than themselves.
Immerse yourself in the game’s rich storyline, featuring fully voice-acted cutscenes and heart-to-heart events that will shape your relationships and impact the outcome of your journey. Explore the land of Elorant to discover lots of enemies and hidden secrets during your adventure. Craft powerful potions and magic stones with ingredients you find along the way to help your party survive. If you’re brave enough, test your skill by facing off against the secret legendary bosses in each chapter. It’s up to you to uncover the mystery and find the truth behind the reason why magic is leaving the world.
FeaturesBoost Points, Weapon Swapping, and Weaknesses! Our Dying World’s battle system has many similarities to the very successful Octopath Traveler, such as boost points, the ability to swap weapons in combat, and enemy weaknesses tied to elements or weapons. While the systems are incredibly similar, ODW’s combat system was inspired to take the best parts of Octopath’s and improve them, with its own twists.
Impactful Choices! Progressing through the story involves making choices that will impact their relationships with their party members and extended cast. These decisions will influence which ending of the game they receive. Our Dying World has three possible outcomes for players to explore: good, neutral, or bad.
Crafting! An RPG isn’t an RPG without a crafting system, and Our Dying World’s goal is to make crafting simple and fun. This is accomplished by limiting a player’s crafting ability on startup. In the beginning, the player only has three recipes to avoid overwhelming them with lots of recipes and materials, making the crafting ability accessible for any type of player. The number of items you can craft increases throughout the game via the purchase of crafting books. Ingredients are also easy to obtain. While you will find the majority of your materials through exploration and combat, you can also easily purchase more from various shops around Elorant.
Exploration! One of Our Dying World’s strongest features is exploration! There is no overworld connecting towns and dungeons, unlike other games in the same genre. The player has to walk through forests, plains, and even sewers to get to where they want to go. Along the way, players will find plenty of treasure chests, some a little more hidden than others. All of them are filled with useful items! Gold, weapons, and even crafting supplies will have players searching every corner for secrets.
Secret Legendary Bosses! Since Our Dying World is a singular difficulty level, the main storyline, while challenging, may not always be enough for some of our more hardcore players. Legendary Bosses are hidden optional battles that those looking for a tougher fight can search for. Each Legendary Boss is unique to its chapter, and no two bosses are discovered the same way. A sweet reward awaits those strong enough to beat them.
