Thanks for checking out this page! Incursion2D (In2D, because it's a game in 2D, get it?) is a project that we've been working on for about 7 months now (as of December 2023) and started as a simple experiment to try out the mechanics of the engine. Since then however, the ideas for the game have been taking good enough shape to a point where we would like to put our progress out there and gather some opinions on what people think of what it has to offer as a whole. As of now the game offers about 2-4 hours of gameplay to reach the final boss for this tech demo, and will show you the mechanics that you'll be able to build upon. Note however that this is a tech demo, and not a display of the amount of content. The systems currently in place will be expanded upon as time progresses.

The name itself is based on the enemy wave system that forms the basis of our combat. Multiple types of enemies are making incursions into the homeland of the habitants you will meet along the way, and you will help seal them away.

The game is completely free and will probably remain that way. If we do reach the point where we would like to launch this game in early access on platforms like Steam, the game won't cost any money but there might be some optional cosmetic packs that you can buy to decorate your character or home with, as a token of support. Nothing gameplay enhancing will ever be available via purchases.

We are not professionals by any stretch of imagination. As it stands I am the sole developer of this project and am assisted by some friends who are willing to Q&A the game, and provide essential creative direction. Together we hope to deliver a project that can provide some hours of entertainment at the end of the day. If we can get as much as one person to enjoy their playthrough, we will have considered it a success. As we don't have any artists, most of the assets in the game are purchased and altered to fit the aesthetic of the general environment, with some minor FX and particles drawn by ourselves. As we are simply a group of game enthusiasts who used to call all our private servers "Sanctuary", we call our development group "Sanctuary Studios".

- A form of multiplayer. The gameplay itself is meant to be done solo, but we intend on having players be able to see each other in the cities, as well as be able to chat to each other

- New skills will be added over time

- All existing systems in the game are currently very barebone. Even though they work, they require more content to make them interesting. This will also evolve over time!

- Controller support

- Mobile release

- Content that gets added as you go. For this tech demo you will have access to the first "continent" of the game, that being the weathered woods. We will gradually release new areas and bosses for you to progress through. Below you can see the world map as it is planned for world 1:

What are we looking for?
We are looking specifically for the cold hard feedback that the internet can provide! We want to hear your honest (and harsh) opinions on what is available as is. What do you like? What do you hate? Is your experience boring? Is it too difficult? These are the questions we would love answered from you as a community. Building a game means listening to player feedback, we are aware of this and want to do this from scratch. Give it a go and provide your feedback here or on Discord, we'd love to hear it.
