HUNTSMEN
HUNTSMEN is an experimental sandbox third person shooter that aims to create a dynamic world that truly feels alive through a simulated eco-system and randomised militarised factions, throwing the player in the middle of the chaos.
AN EVOLVING DYNAMIC ECOSYSTEM
Animals evolve over the course of your play time according to simplified natural selection heuristics. Both their bodies and behaviours will evolve with every generation in reaction to both natural and player interaction. This means no two animal NPCs will ever truly be identical, as a complex matrix of personality, physical and mental attributes along with physical distinctions up to and including new limbs and capabilities will ensure that every play through has novelty. Players will also be able to directly manipulate the evolutionary path of animals - either through combat and intervention of their population numbers, or using forbidden technology allowing genetic extraction and injection in real time.
A CONFUSING WAR ZONE
Set in a post-depopulation Sydney, Australia - you will be tasked with surviving and exploring this living eco-system while navigating the battlefield and finding your place amongst the hierarchy of roaming gangs that are not only dealing with each other, but also ancient demonic remnants of the economic and political elite of ages past. Existing now as tortured souls stuck in twisted machine bodies, these beings submit to an unseen master and will guide or misguide the player as they work to uncover and overcome the dark times forming around them.
A SHIFTING LANDSCAPE
The environment and battlefield periodically change with a tidal system that brings in different undersea life and treasure, extreme weather events that similarly limit safe zones, and trans dimensional equipment allowing extra dimensional entities and structures to be seen, interacted with, and fought.
This all happens within an FMV / pre rendered inspired pixelated aesthetic influenced by obscure adventure classics and CGI of the 90s. This also includes colour banding as a deliberate artistic direction.
