Guess The English Word Game
Welcome to Guess The English Word Game, the ultimate vocabulary-building app that allows you to customize your own word list to learn and play with. Originally designed to help you remember English word meanings, now you can import files with custom content to suit your individual needs.
Gameplay:
The game is simple yet challenging - we provide you with a hidden word (only the first letter is revealed) and its meaning. The goal is to guess the word and remember its meaning, which comes in handy in the bonus game for extra points. The main screen has a "Help" button that reveals the next hidden letter of the word. Once you guess the word, two new buttons appear: one opens the word's meaning in the Cambridge dictionary webpage, and the other reads the word aloud.
Configuration:
Before starting the game, you can load a Words/Meanings file of your choice. Create your own file using a text editor, add words, and their meanings separated by ";". Each new entry should be on a new line. You can use any language that supports UTF-8 characters. The meaning should be in English, as the bonus game uses speech recognition in English. Save the file as a ".txt" file in the Downloads directory of your Android device. In the game, press the Score/Config button, allow storage and audio permissions, and browse for the ".txt" file. Now you're ready to play!
Score:
You win 2 points for every guessed letter of the hidden word and lose 1 point for every wrong letter or use of the "Help" button. Your score is written on a database file that can be checked from the Score/Config screen.
Bonus Game:
The Bonus game starts after guessing 5 words or the configured amount from the Score/Config screen. You have to press the "Go/Pass" button to load your already guessed words one by one. After loading a word, press and hold the "speak" button, and speak out what was the meaning of the word. For every guessed word from the meaning, you get 5 points.
Notice:
