Ascent: Rivals
A brutal race to the death
Players assemble ships out of scraps in an effort gain an edge in a death-race where anything goes in order to claim victory and fame. Some do it for the adrenaline, others for fame, and some for a shot at escaping poverty — and the majority to watch the ensuing chaos.
KEY FEATURESDual engine, twin stick controls - Independently control each engine for nuanced handling at blistering speeds. Intuitive to learn, but hard to master. Master the trade offs and perfect your style of piloting as each side's engine has a thrust, lift, and strafe components allowing for multiple techniques of tackling turns or entering flow state through the chicanes.
Drive to Survive - Finish the race at all costs. Credits are awarded to the fastest pilots or stolen by collecting contracts on other players. Tactfully pass at opportune moments, or employ evasive maneuvers as mimicking jet's dogfighting, advantage goes to the player behind until you cross the finish line. Energy can be charged to unleash one-hit-kill cannons; however, it comes with the risk of temporarily giving up piloting control to take your shot. Mastering risk-reward will be key to survival and victory.
Competition and Stakes - Put your skills to the test against other pilots in sponsored tournaments and events. If you’re confident, ante your credits, use them to place contracts on other pilots, or pay off judges to bring in over-tuned parts between races. Follow your favorite pilots ascend in standings by spectating even earning credits for your support.
Tune to your Ship - Achieve your style of racing by tuning your ship's loadout as spending your battery's energy is a give and take system. Tune your ship by modifying any combination of 7 categories whether it be top speed, handling, warping style. If your style is a slow start, enter races with parts that overdraw energy and catchup by charging your battery from shooting obelisks throughout the race.
